Yummy

Since WWK began I’ve had quite a few tasty treats.  Here are a few of my faves:

In Atlanta (since arriving home):::

Soho

Agave

Eclipse de Luna

Dekalb Farmers Market

Taxco

5 Seasons Brewery

Loca Luna

Crepe Revolution

On the road:::

Madrid, Spain: La Gloria de Montera: Amazing and cheap- reservations are done by the hour and people stand outside waiting to be let in! They have this place running like a well-oiled machine which sounds liek it would be gross but somehow they make the food delicious and relatively affordable! (I went with a mushroom and cheese salad (I had eaten most of it beofre I took the pic!), steak kabobs with vegetable tempura and the chocolate dessert)

Lagos, Portugal: Cafe Odeon: The owner and chef is from Washington but we won’t hold that against him. The food is cheap and delicious and during high season the line goes around the corner to get in.  It’s a pretty much a tiny room with a bar taking up half of it, a tiny stove in the corner and a few tables squashed together.  I opted for the Swiss Burger with a hamburger with a fried egg and hashbrowns on top.  Delicious way to cure a hangover!

Widemere, Lake District, England: The Walnut Fish and Chips: My picture of chicken nuggets on a bun doesn’t look so appetizing but trust me it’s delicious! This place was packed full of locals so I had to go!

Calwy, Wales: OJ Williams: Thanksgiving on a roll for 2£… Turkey and stuffing- amazing!

Scotland- Greggs- fast food- This is where you can get a 56 pence sausage roll!

Edinburgh, Scotland-La Grosse Poelée- This was at a French Street fair but the restaurant does exist! Had some marvelous jambalaya- worth it.

Göteborg, Sweden- The Fish Market- fresh fish so you can make your own meal!

Athens, Greece- Plaka Vılla- a woman in a little magazıne shop recommended thıs Gyro place to my Aussie friend Enza- if the locals love it chances are you will too!  We sure did! (Plus it was the cheapest one we found!)

Luxor, Egypt: Pizza Home- my guide Manwe brought me here when I asked her for her favorite food in town.  Really good pizza- I had a small mushroom and spinach which was more than enough-  but eat it all on the spot because it gets soggy.

Moscow, Russia: Star Dogs (Looks like ‘crap dos!’)- A hot dog in a tortilla with mashed potatos, pickles, ketchup, spicy mustard and bacon bits.  Best street food ever!

Beijing, China: Kro’s Nest- I may be a bit partial but the pizza really is fantastic and the slices are bigger than your head.  Yum yum!

Beijing, China: Chef Too-  The head chef and owner Billy is from NJ- super successful guy and really nice (Kro is friends with him so I got to meet him!) He’s been head chef at tons of top restaurants all over the place so you know the food is delicious and Chef Too has a killer brunch menu. (Great way to cure a hangover!)

Shanghai, China:Tairyo Teppanyaki- All-You-Can-Eat-And-Drink (Sake-and-Beer-included) for $20US; Need I say more?

Sydney, Australia: Harry’s Cafe- Famous for its pies so I went not knowing they were meat pies! I went with the most popular pie- The Tiger- Mashed potatoes, mashed peas and roast beef in a personal pie shell.

Christchurch, NZ: The Honey Pot Cafe- HUGE sandwiches that won’t break the bank in a coffee house setting, added bonus- local artwork for sale on the walls

Queenstown, NZ: FERGBURGER- I had the Southern Swine- that’s Prime New Zealand beef, streaky bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion, avocado, aioli & tomato relish.  Open 24 hours! (I didn’t get a picture so I stole these off the net)

Rotorua, NZ: Ronnie’s Cafe- Good for cheap eats and pastries and serves breakfast all day long! (I highly recommend the Cream Soda Milkshake!)
